Abstract

|
Public health centers have made great contribution to the community health through the control of acute diseases. MCH/FP services. However with the change of the epidemiologic disease pattern, the function and role of health centers must be altered. Public health workers have to counsel and educate all individuals and community toward exercising prudent guided self-care of common ailments to the greatest extent possible.
Health worker´s home visiting program provides regular home visits for early detection and continuous control of health matters. This program is a part of the comprehensive health care program and community-based home nursing services.
This paper reviews the peaks and pits of operating home visiting program in´ a county. Kangwon Do, which has been tried to settle down the chronic diease control program in public health, centers.
Health worker’s home visiting program requires some measures to increase´ its efficiency as follows:
1) Various chronic disease control programs need to be integrated into the established one.
2) Home visiting program should be supplemented with several actions: clarifying the job description provision of vehicles, reconsideration of evaluation method and annual schedule.
3) Health workers must be provided with manuals and on-job training opportunities. Case conference may be an ideal method of--peer group meeting to obtain some practical´ knowledge at Myon level.4) Health workers have to be evaluated on the process and outcome criteria and evaluation] plays important part to motivate health workers. Therefore, the existing evaluation method should be reviewed and revised reasonably.
